Well situated in the centre of Oundle, this traditional pub, has been recently refurbished but still full of character with lovely low beams, echoing the image of the archetypal English public house. This 16th Century grade II listed pub has a lovely traditional interior with old beams, stone floors and warming open fires. Justin and Sharon have created a relaxing and informal atmosphere serving interesting, quirky food such as Paella and Tapas as well as a good wholesome Sunday Roast. A wonderful example of a local that really works. Ian Simmons has a tremendous eye for detail. He keeps 3 ales including Fools Nook and serves a wonderful and varied array of food made fresh on the premises, including his delightful, freshly baked bread. Other highlights include Antipasti, Crispy Pork Belly, Seabass, Tuna Nicoise and sumptuous desserts like Poached Pears and Dark Chocolate Tart. You won’t be disappointed!
